Hand in Hand

Hand in Hand

Hand in hand for 30 years, we have walked through life. When you started this journey,

we had no idea where it would lead but that was the appeal. The unknown was not so frightening

when there was someone to share it. So, off we go taking each day as it came through sunshine and

rain.

Oh! What an amazing path form the heights we viewed the future before us; even though I am

afraid of heights, I was not afraid. From the depths, we clung to each other and devised a way out.

How dull it would have been if there was only the peak and the whole world at our feet. From the

summits, we watched the sunrise and set on our lives. The view is amazing and gave us a glimpse of

what was to come.

The bottom was never the pits. Sometimes we would forget to work as a team and the rut grew on

and relentless. Alone, it was most difficult to get out. I became tired of being a mole. The trudging

alone took us back to each other. We discovered that it might take time, but we could overcome and

that we did. Like pieces of a puzzle, we fit together to form a relationship that has lasted.

If you get in a rut, it’s nice to know there is someone there to reach down and pull you out. Life

pushes you both into a rut, it’s hard. Where there is a spark of hope, one can boost the other out and

in turn reach down and lend a hand.

Remember the first? The first kiss, the best, or the worst you have to have someone to share or

there is no memory. Oh the secrets we shared, communicated by a glance, a touch a hint of a smile.

Amazing!

Here we are celebrating 27 years with those who mean the most in our lives. What I would wish

for you is that your life be blessed with someone who doesn’t just complete but complements you and

that you go through together.

If time, space or unfortunate circumstances should befall us, I reach out my hand and you are there.

Love may not conqueror all, but it does provide the strength to come out on the other side more

refined that before.
